process and getting their real estate license. The hardest thing most real
estates agents face is trying to get started. One of the main reasons behind so
many real estate agents have a difficult time starting their careers is nobody
knows who they are and they don’t have any connections. Typically, when a home
owner decides to sell their home, they turn to same real estate agent that
originally sold the house. When someone is looking to buy a home, they seek a
real estate agent that they share a history with. This close knit quality makes
it extremely difficult for new real estate agents to find houses to list.
The First Step
The first thing that new real
estate agents need to do is get themselves hired in to a real estate firm. Take
some time and find out about each of the real estate firms in your area. Find
out which ones are the most successful and try to learn if any are better at
starting inexperienced real estate agents then others.
Listen and Learn
One of the best things new real
estate agents is to keep quite and listen to what the older, more experienced
agents have to say. You never know when know of the more experienced agents will
let something slip that you can use to your advantage. Sometimes, if one of the
more experienced agents has more listings than they can handle, they will offer
one or two of the smaller ones to a younger agent. Don’t be afraid to ask
question, most people are more impressed with some who is willing to ask
questions, then someone who acts like they know everything.
Work the Floor
Most real estate companies like
to always have an agent available in the office at all times. This person is
responsible for answering the phone, and assisting any prospective clients that
walk in. Smart new real estate agents volunteer to take as much floor time as
they possibly can. By taking the floor time, you will be more likely to attract
clients who are looking to purchase a house. More often than not, these are
young couples who have never bought a house before and are looking for a starter
home. Although, the commission on these types of sales isn’t normally very much
money, you stand a good chance of dealing with the same couple down the road
when they are ready to sell their starter home and move into something bigger
and better.

The most important time in a
real estate agents career is the beginning. The impression you make is one that
will influence the rest of your career. It is extremely important to make sure
that all of your transactions go as smoothly as possible. You should always
present yourself in a friendly but professional manner. Remember that every
client you deal with in the beginning of your real estate career is a client you
have a chance to work with again in the future. Many real estate agents are able
to build successful careers based on the success of their early sales.
